Install CaptureFlow

Free, no account, about thirty seconds. Works in Chrome and every other Chromium browser.

Live on the Chrome Web Store · Manifest V3 · free

CaptureFlow is live on the Chrome Web Store. Install it with one click and it updates itself from then on. If Chrome shows a “not yet trusted by Enhanced Safe Browsing” note, that is simply because the listing is new — choose Continue to install. Manual installation is still available below if you prefer it.

Google Chrome

Version 114 or newer, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.

Edge, Brave, Opera

Any Chromium browser that supports Manifest V3 extensions. Arc and Vivaldi work too.

Firefox & Safari

Not supported yet. A Firefox build is on the roadmap once the cloud release settles.

Install manually (developer mode)

This is the normal way to load an unpacked Chrome extension. It is completely safe, and it is exactly how the build in review behaves.

  1. Download CaptureFlow-v0.7.0.zip and unzip it somewhere you will not delete by accident — your Documents folder is fine. Do not leave it inside Downloads.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in a new tab.
  3. Turn on Developer mode using the switch in the top-right corner.
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder — the one that contains manifest.json.
  5. CaptureFlow now appears in your extension list. Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin it so it is always one click away.

Set your keyboard shortcuts

Chrome sometimes leaves extension shortcuts unassigned when several extensions want the same keys. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts, find CaptureFlow, and set:

ActionSuggested
Capture visible areaCtrl + Shift + 1
Capture selected regionCtrl + Shift + 2
Capture full pageCtrl + Shift + 3

On macOS use Cmd in place of Ctrl.

What CaptureFlow asks for

Chrome shows a permission list at install. Here is what each item is actually for — none of them give the extension standing access to your browsing.

PermissionUsed for
activeTabReading the pixels of the one tab you asked to capture, at the moment you ask.
scriptingDrawing the region overlay and scrolling the page for full-page capture.
downloadsSaving the finished image to your Downloads folder.
clipboardWritePutting the image on your clipboard when you press Copy.
contextMenusAdding the CaptureFlow entry to the right-click menu.
storageRemembering your own settings — format, quality, delay, what happens after capture.

Full detail on the privacy policy page.

Uninstalling

Right-click the CaptureFlow icon in the toolbar and choose Remove from Chrome. Your saved screenshots stay where you put them — the extension never had them anywhere else.
